Rotaract is a Rotary International program for young adults between the ages of 18 and 30 who are committed to making a difference in their communities and around the world. Established in 1968, Rotaract provides opportunities for young professionals and university students to enhance their professional skills, address the needs of their community, and promote international understanding.
The name "Rotaract" is a portmanteau of "Rotary" and "action," reflecting the program's emphasis on young people taking active steps to create positive change. Each Rotaract club is sponsored by a local Rotary club, fostering a mentoring relationship between the two organizations.
Rotaract's mission is to provide an opportunity for young men and women to enhance the knowledge and skills that will assist them in personal development, to address the physical and social needs of their communities, and to promote better relations between all people worldwide through a framework of friendship and service.
Every Rotaract club is sponsored by a Rotary club, creating a meaningful mentoring relationship. Rotaractors often participate in Rotary projects and meetings, and many go on to become Rotary members. This partnership ensures continuity of service and leadership across generations.
The Rotaract Club of Tacloban is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Tacloban β District 3860. Our Rotaractors are young professionals and students who actively participate in community service projects, fellowship activities, and leadership development programs.
